4. Choose the Data Type

  • In the "Convert Text to Columns Wizard," select:

    • Delimited: Choose this if your data is separated by commas, tabs, or other specific characters (e.g., CSV files).

    • Fixed Width: Choose this if the data is aligned in fixed-width fields.

  • Click Next.

5. Specify Delimiters (if Delimited was Selected)

  • Check the box for the delimiter that matches your data (e.g., Comma, Tab, Space, etc.).

  • Use the Preview window to confirm how the data will be split.

  • Click Next.

6. Set Column Data Format

  • Choose a format for the separated columns:

    • General: Default option for numbers, dates, and text.

    • Text: Keeps data as text.

    • Date: Formats the data as a date.

  • Click Finish.

7. Review and Save Your Data

  • Check the newly split data to ensure it's correct.

  • Save your file to preserve the changes.
