Introduction
With Manufacture to Stock, the goal is to produce final products using raw materials or consumables, not for immediate orders but to maintain stock. This process transforms your final product into a stock item that can be sold directly off the shelf to clients once manufacturing is complete.

Before you begin, there are a few essential setup steps:
1. Role Assignment
Contact our support team to assign the necessary roles for accessing the Manufacture to Stock and batching features.
2. Batch Numbering
Confirm your preferred batch numbering format with our support team, including prefix, numbering, and optional suffix.
3. Final Product Setup

If you need assistance, reach out to our support team.
These setup steps ensure that once a batch is created or manufactured, the stock levels for your final product increase, allowing you to sell it as a physical item.
What Stays the Same
Recipe Creation
The process of creating a recipe for your final product remains unchanged. You’ll notice new fields, such as the minimum batch requirement, to help tailor your recipe setup.
Order Processes
For client orders, the steps for adding the final product to a quote, job card, or invoice remain exactly the same.
Step-by-Step Guide
Tip: A training video is available at the end of this article.
Step 1: Creating Your Final Item
Navigate to the Items Module.
Create a new item for your final product or select an existing recipe item.
Ensure this is marked as a physical item.
Assign an initial cost and markup.
Example: Set the cost to R100 and the selling price to R200.
Save the item.
Step 2: Setting Up a Manufacturing Recipe
Click the Recipe button for your item.
Tick the box to enable a Manufacturing Recipe for batching.
(Optional) Set a minimum batch quantity or leave it blank for flexibility.
Add your raw materials:
Example: Frosting and Oreo Cookies.
(Optional) Include labor costs:
Example: 1 hour of labor.
Step 3: Creating a Batch
On the item editor page, click Create Batch.
Alternatively, go to the Manufacturing Module, select the Batches tab, and click New Batch.
Specify the batch quantity, e.g., 10 units.
Adjust task timings if needed (optional):
Enable automatic scaling based on batch size or keep timings fixed.
Save and proceed.
Step 4: Fulfilling Stock Requirements
Ensure that raw materials are in stock:
Add stock manually or via a supplier order.
Tip: Set your branch settings to Automatically move stock from warehouse to next requisition item for seamless stock flow.
Once stock is ready, open the batch and click Start Batch Manufacturing.
Step 5: Managing Tasks and Completing the Batch
If tasks are assigned during the manufacturing process, ensure all tasks are marked complete. (This is not required and is an optional step)
Open the batch and
Edit the raw materials/consumables used in the recipe to match actual usage, if necessary.
Scroll to the top and click Complete Batch to finalize it.
You are able to adjust the final manufactured quantity if needed. For example, update the total if the actual output was higher or lower than planned.
Confirm the batch completion through the pop-up prompt.
Note: Once completed, no further edits can be made.
Step 6: Finalizing and Updating Costs
The system updates stock levels for raw materials/consumables used and adjusts final product stock accordingly.
Final item costs and stock quantities are automatically updated in the system and synced with Sage.
View the completed batch details under the Batch History tab.
Key Features of the Manufacture to Stock Module
1. Minimum Batch Manufacturing
Set a minimum batch quantity to ensure sufficient stock is always available.
Example: Set a minimum of 10 units per batch.
The system alerts you when the stock hits its minimum level and suggests manufacturing a new batch.
This feature is separate from the minimum and maximum reorder levels, which focus on sales demand.
2. Batch Adjustments
Adjust the final batch quantity before completion to reflect the actual output.
Example: If you planned to produce 10 units but manufactured 12, you can update this to match the actual output.
Ensures stock levels accurately represent the final manufactured quantity.
Conclusion
The Manufacture to Stock feature simplifies your manufacturing process, enabling accurate stock management and cost tracking. By following the steps outlined above, you’re ready to produce batches efficiently and maintain optimal stock levels.
